WHAT IS A SILENT AUCTION?

One participates in a silent auction by placing a bid on a bid sheet, and then submitting that bid privately and directly to the auctioning authority, without the knowledge of other bidders.

We believe this style of auction has several advantages:

1.  Bidders can bid in private, without everyone knowing who they are and what their bid amount was.

2.  This style of bidding does not require a third governing party, such as ebay etc., which allows for one-on-one communication between the buyer and seller.  This gives the buyer and seller more flexibility to negotiate price, and any differences that may arise.

3.  If a high bidder requests, and is granted a release from a bid, the next lower bidder can be given the option of purchasing the item at their lower bid amount, thus making them the winner of the auction, providing their bid amount meets, or exceeds, any reserve price in place.

4.  There are no ineffective feedback or problem resolution systems that are mandated by third parties.  Any problems are resolved directly between the buyer and the seller, which usually results in an amicable agreement.

5.  You are not required to provide your personal credit card information etc. just to place a bid.

6.  There is no registration system that requires even more personal information just to place a bid.

See below for the sequence of events:

Step 1:

Bidder takes note of the item/s up for auction and their starting bid, or reserve.

Step 2:

Bidder carefully reads all pertinent information and the item description.  Taking note of any shipping and/or credit card charges etc..

Step 3:

Bidder places a bid on an item by writing his or her bid amount and name on a bid sheet.
Step 4:
Bidder goes back periodically to the item/s to see whether they have been outbid.
Step 5:
Bidder writes a new amount if he or she is willing to increase the bid, and again signs his or her name on the bid sheet.
Step 6:
Bidder waits for the winner to be announced at the end of the auction by the auctioning authority.

Simple enough right?  So why haven't you placed a bid yet?
